His latest blog echoes many of the things we talked about, and certainly we also see organics playing a major role in the way forward for agriculture on PEI. Here’s Peter’s latest blog:

This week at Old Home Week:

Every day at 2:30 on the Summer Sizzles stage, Chef Tyler Leamont is cooking with fresh fruits and vegetables from select PEI certified organic farms.

On Monday August 15, Chef Tyler will be joined by Sandy MacKay of Alexander Fresh
Vegetables when they will feature tomatoes and yellow beans.

On Tuesday Ron Walsh from Triple Harts Farm is providing black currants and Chef Tyler has some sweet plans for them!

Wednesday sees Sandy from Alexander Fresh Vegetables back on stage. He’s bringing with him colored carrots, red beets and Yukon Gold potatoes

On Thursday learn some secrets of fermenting from Amy Smith & Verena Varga of Heartbeet Organics.

Garlic from Tina Davies of Emmerdale Eden Farm is the featured product on Friday; and,

On Saturday, August 20, Chef Tyler wraps it all up with oat groats from Speerville Flour Mill.

Chef Tyler’s recipes are simple, fun and delicious; and our summer student Aidan is there to tell you more about the PEI COPC, our farms and our work! Stop by, you won’t be disappointed.
