Grain Agronomist Visit

Photo: We were out checking organic grain fields in Alberry Plains

Elizabeth Vachon was on PEI  July 7 & 8th and met with a number of grain producers to give them some helpful advise on production methods. We visited fields of barley, wheat, buckwheat, and some fallow land, to discuss methods of weed control and fertility issues.

Elisabeth also met with farmers in the evening at the Farm Centre.  She plans to return to PEI in the fall to talk to the producers again, we plan to have more informal meetings so watch for notices.

We saw the beneficial insects that they use and how they keep them healthy, as well as how they prune tomatoes, and cucumbers in their operation.

Our next meeting will be at Elderflower Organic July 21. Watch for more info
